“Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life.”
September 24-26, 2010 at Mt Morris Camp and Conference Center. Have you ever tried to do it all? Martha did. Have you ever wanted to grow closer to the Lord? Mary did. How can we do both, or isn’t that the question? The 2010 Women’s Retreat will ponder the challenges and opportunities of living with a Mary heart in a Martha world. In a culture that values productivity and doing it all, we find deep within ourselves a longing to nurture an intimate relationship with God, our Creator. How might we grow spiritually deep without making it one more thing on our list of things to do? Based on the book of the same title by Joanna Weaver (Waterbrook Press: Colorado Springs, 2002), we will explore Luke 10:38-42 and provide opportunities to discover a balance between being and doing that fits into your temperament, season in life, and personal goals. Moravian Cruise
The Moravian Church of Downey sponsors a Moravian Cruise on October 31 - November 7, 2010 (7 days). The Caribbean Princess ship embarks from San Juan, Puerto Rico and is scheduled for stops in St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands), Tortola (British Virgin Islands), Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados on this Classic Southern Caribbean cruise. Staterooms start from $619 per person double occupancy, plus taxes and fees. There will be organized Moravian tours on four of the six islands. The cost for the Moravian tour package is $250, payable to the Moravian Church of Downey and mailed to: 10337 Old River School Rd, Downey CA 90241-2057. Young Adult Convo
The next Young Adult Convo is to the Holy Land from December 28, 2010 to January 6, 2011. Those who have completed high school through age 25 are invited to attend.
